Can You Make a Monster Truck Street Legal?

As the place for Orlando, Tampa, and Daytona drivers to get their fix with trucks, we here at Nations Trucks provide you with all kinds of options and solutions. For some people, they want to give their trucks a big boost, and drive around in a monster truck. Of course, the question always is: how can I keep my monster truck street legal? Well, we're here to tell you!

Here in the state of Florida, there is no suspension life limit or frame height restriction. However, your bumper height can be regulated depending on the vehicles gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), which is the maximum operating weight or mass of a vehicle that is specified by a manufacturer, which includes the vehicle chassis, body, engine, fuel accessories, drivers, passengers, cargo, and more. But, the state of Florida does not have any regulations on wheels, suspension lift limits, or suspension modification.

So what does that mean? Well, it means that if you follow the guidelines from the state, you can have a street legal monster truck. All vehicles are restricted to a maximum width of 102 inches, and a maximum height of 13 feet, 6 inches, and a maximum single vehicle length of 40 feet. If you can keep your vehicle within these parameters, while also being up to code on your brakes, exhaust, and vehicle lighting laws, you can have a street legal monster truck of your own.

Of course, we always advise checking in with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to get full answers to specific questions you might have. However, in the meantime you can stop in and take a look at our selection of quality pre-owned pickup trucks and our team would be happy to arrange test drives for you.
